Proportional Chop

Post by Ninebarks »

I have a group of players who wish to play in a tournament for 2 hours (single table 10 or less) and then distribute the payoffs according to the number of chips each has left.

I assumed that setting Stop on chop to YES, and Proportional chop to 100 would accomplish this, but I can't seem to get it to work right.

I start all the players off with 1000 chips in their account, it costs them 100 chips to enter, and 100 chips to re-buy if they go bust.

I schedule the game so that there is a 5 minute break at the end of two hours and then I stop the game. I thought I would be able to check their accounts and any chips they had left would be added to their accounts (proportionally) and re-buys subtracted. The re-buys seem to get subtracted OK, but I can't figure out how the chips are added. As I indicated above, I presumed it would be proportional to how many chips they had left. But it doesn't seem to be.

I suspect I have a flaw in my logic and would appreciate any suggestions.

The Stop on Chop feature is triggered when the remaining players are all due an equal percentage of the prizepool according to your Payout Structure. So you have to know in advance how many places this will be.

Guess I totally misunderstood what was meant by "paid out proportionally (based on the chip counts)."

For example, I assumed that if we had 4 players, each starting with 100 chips, if I stopped the game at the end of 2 hours and the distribution looked like this:

Player Chips after 2 hours
A 200
B 100
C 70
D 30

If there had been 2 100 re-buys, Player A would get 300 chips credited to his account, B would get 150, C would get 105, and D would get 45.

And, I'm afraid you were correct that I will not really know how many players I will have ahead of time except at least 4 and no more than 10.

Is there anyway I can get result in my example other than doing it manually?

Whoops. Error in my logic above. If there had been two re-buys, there would have been 600 chips in play. Thus, the holdings of the players would be identical to what I presumed would be credited back.

But I still don't know if, or how, I can set that up.

Manually aborting the game just causes the remaining prizepool to be evenly distributed to the remaining players. The Stop on Chop feature was implemented to mimic PokerStars' Fifty50 game, not as player-initiated or admin-initiated chop.

Our game follows the same rules as the OP. Feature request for a timed game. I know Poker Stars doesn't have the feature but if I wanted to use Poker Stars I wouldn't have purchased this software.
