Administrating a Tournament Multiple Tables

Post by hpolack »

I have run two successful ring tournaments. I now want to host a multi-table tournament and want to know how Poker Maven will handle situations.

1. Players register - Does the system auto seat everyone or do they have to pick a seat initially/I have to tell them what seat to take?
2. During the tournament - I am assuming the system runs all the breaks and will auto stop and restart the game and I don't have to do anything as the administrator
3. Break Interval, Break sync and Break Time. If I wanted to have a break every 6 level changes(levels are set to 10 minutes), then that would be every 60 minutes. I would set the game as follows: Break Interval= 6; Break Sync = No; Break Time= 10 (10 minutes of break)
3. The table will auto consolidate as the players are knocked out. If one table has 7 and the other two tables have 5 in a 3 table tournament, will it pull from the 7 player table and move someone to one of the 5 player tables?

Tournament seating is random and automatic. Your table will pop up automatically when the tournament starts. Or if you show up late it will popup when you log in.
2. During the tournament - I am assuming the system runs all the breaks and will auto stop and restart the game and I don't have to do anything as the administrator
You have an abundance of tournament starting options, including several manual and a couple of automatic modes as determined by settings you can adjust. Rest breaks can be synced to the hourly clock or run after a specific number of levels have passed.
Yes but keep in mind that the level clock is not running during the break so using your settings above the next break starts 60 minutes after the last one ended and thus their starting times will be 70 minutes apart.
3. The table will auto consolidate as the players are knocked out. If one table has 7 and the other two tables have 5 in a 3 table tournament, will it pull from the 7 player table and move someone to one of the 5 player tables?
Correct, table balancing and consolidation is automatic.

My first tournament went great! A ton of complements on the software. Most are playing other tournaments on other software such as Pokerrrr 2 and said there was no comparison. A lot of them loved that they could watch another table while playing on their table and could watch the "Players" chip count like leader-board.

Here are items I have questions on how the software handles these situations for the next meet up.

1. What happens if you setup originally 3 tables of 10 players and only have 20 or 19 players?
-Trying to do this to get to a final table of 10 and I don't want to have to reset the number of tables just before we start
-When I click start, will it split the 20 players up equally to 3 tables or just 2 tables which is what I am hoping for.
2. How do you allow for chops at the end of a tournament and how does it work?
-Does it do it according to chip stack or is there other ways?
-How does it get triggered? Can we allow the players to stop and chop or does the admin have to do it?
3. How do I set for a break every hour for just 10 mins, I understand that it won't be at the top of the hour necessarily and will be after an hours worth of clock time.
4. How do I get a list of who won money from a tournament easily? I had to go through the history before I closed the table to find who won what from the tournament. I want to send out the winners quickly and easily with out searching logs randomly to find out. Since my players play both Cash and Tourney, I can't tell from the Account balances who won what.
5. How do you know clock running time on the game and time remaining on levels? I did not notice it on the table anywhere.
5. What is stop on chop

The program automatically consolidates and balances to use the least number of tables possible given the seats per table setting.

That has to be decided in advance using the Stop On Chop setting and adjust the Payout Structure so that the top finishes all have an equal payout percentage. There currently is no function to allow remaining players to agree to a chop.
3. How do I set for a break every hour for just 10 mins, I understand that it won't be at the top of the hour necessarily and will be after an hours worth of clock time.
If you want a 10 minute break at the 0:50 past the hour, set Break Sync = Yes, Break Interval = 50, Break Time = 10.
4. How do I get a list of who won money from a tournament easily?

See the TourneyResults folder inside your data folder. Find your data folder using Help button on System tab toolbar.
5. How do you know clock running time on the game and time remaining on levels? I did not notice it on the table anywhere.
Click table menu and select Statistics.
5. What is stop on chop
See #2 above.

Great, the table launch settings sound perfect.

What triggers the chop?

If Stop On Chop setting is enabled

1. Proportional chop - 0; then 100% is equally distributed
2. Proportional chop - 100; then 100% of stakes are proportionally distributed according to chip count
3. Proportional chop - 50; then 50% is equally distributed; 50% is proportionally distributed by chip count

Are there any other chop controls I should be aware of?

If Stop on Chop is enabled and all remaining payouts are equal (according to your Payout structure) the tournament ends.

Nope, you got it.

Sorry, I still don't understand. When is the chop triggered and/or by what action?

When chop is triggered. I thought the chop breakout is determined by what is in proportional chop, correct?

If Stop On Chop setting is enabled it looks to the Proportional chop setting. If 0 it is all equal or otherwise it follows the following:

1. Proportional chop - 0; then 100% is equally distributed
2. Proportional chop - 100; then 100% of stakes are proportionally distributed according to chip count
3. Proportional chop - 50; then 50% is equally distributed; 50% is proportionally distributed b

The Proportional Chop setting has no effect as to when it stops, only how much they actually get. The stopping trigger is all in the Payout Structure setting. For example if the top 3 places are paid 30% each and 4th place gets 10%, as soon as that 4th player gets knocked out, it's over, because the remaining percentages are all equal.

Sorry, it still does not make sense to me. If my payout is 45,28,17,10 for 11-20 entrants. It would never trigger the chop. Are there any full samples outlined somewhere where I can read them and see the impact. I just picked up the game about a year ago with any consistent play and only with friends and a local league, so if you are basing on some well-known process, I would not know it.
