im on my home pc yes but its hardwired into the cox box no wireless router is hooked up

so im not sure how to find the ports

The router is still a hardware firewall, regardless if you are hardwired to it or using WiFi. Can you see a model number on that box? The instructions on that link I gave with tell you how to find the guide for it at portforward.com.
