Do they all use the same API? I am asking becuase the lite is perfect for what i need now. and the gold will be what I will need in the future. If I pay to have custom things like a cashier etc.. added, can I use the same code for the gold? I just don't want to pay 2x to have it rewritten

Yes, Trial version, too.

Yes, you can install the Gold version right over the Pro or Lite version and not lose any settings or accounts or API code.
